Our supplier-delivery partner's Sustainability Statement
Minimal wood wastage
We respect every piece of timber we use, that is why we're delighted that our manufacturing process results in minimal wood wastage. When offcuts are created during the fabrication process, the wood is then used as customer samples or chopping boards. Any smaller offcuts are then used to fuel our two wood-burning biomass boilers that help heat our warehouse. This approach means nothing goes to waste.
Using renewable energy wherever possible
We've fitted over 400 solar panels to our warehouse roof that generates enough power to run the building, including the self-enclosed extraction system. Capturing and recycling all the emissions that may have otherwise escaped means we're helping keep the air cleaner too.
All our employees do their bit too. We recycle the vast majority of our office waste as well as old IT equipment – meaning as little as possible goes to landfill. We believe it is the small contributions that add up to make a big difference.
Transportation and Packaging
With a fleet of 50 vans, it's important to identify how we can reduce our emissions without compromising our service to customers. To help with this, we installed state-of-the-art software in our fleet to ensure the routes we take are the most economic and efficient as possible – minimising our carbon footprint per delivery. We have also significantly reduced the amount of waste we leave with customers by only using reusable packaging and removing all cardboard completely from our operation. Our reusable packaging is so robust it can be used many times, offering a long-term environmental solution.
Sustainability in Action
We believe that, in order for us to be sustainable, our suppliers and vendors must meet the same standards – This is why we ensure:
All wood that we purchase Fully complies with the legal requirements of the European Union Timber Regulations (EUTR*)
- We only purchase timber from reputable vendors
- We source timber that is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC†) certified wherever possible
- We and our suppliers are compliant with Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC‡).
